Wednesday Oct 14, 2020
Wednesday Oct 14, 2020
In today’s episode, Amanda sits down over pretty pink wine with writer, director, and comedic actress Trish Rainone (Pink Is In, My Roommate’s an Escort, V-Wars) to discuss filming in Sault Ste. Marie, accidentally taking edibles before performing stand-up, and what the hell ‘adorn’ means. In 2019 Trish started 180 Sisterhood Productions alongside producer Rebeka Herron, and in less than a year they already have a podcast underway and a handful of film credits including Milk, Diary of a Dangerchild, and An Isolation Dogumentary, all of which are currently in the film festival circuit. Their newest projects include a horror feature film and a music video for the upcoming single Honey by recording artist Jesse Merineau, which Trish co-directed and script wrote for. As a performer, Trish won Best Actress for her role in the film One Night Stand at the Crown Wood International Film Festival, and can be seen on Amazon Prime Video playing Top Dog in the award-winning series Pink is In.

Ep. 23 - Alice Moran
Wednesday Oct 07, 2020
Wednesday Oct 07, 2020
In today’s episode, Amanda sits down over some scotch/whiskey on ice with actor and writer Alice Moran (Sunnyside, Crawford, Man Seeking Woman) to discuss the true randomness of auditioning (a la The bird shirt), our Pokémon spirit animals, learning to sew masks during covid, and writing/performing in The Fifty Shades of Grey period Spank! Alice is an award-winning actor and writer originally from Edmonton, and now based in Toronto. At just 18 years old she began working at The Second City Toronto, where she created and filmed the sketch Hogwarts: Which House Are You? Which quickly reached over 3 Million views and was featured in The Huffington Post, CBC News, Topless Robot, and TIME. You can see her in shows like Man Seeking Woman, The Beaverton, and Sunnyside, which she also wrote for and won a Canadian Screen Award for Best Performance in a Variety or Sketch Comedy Program or Series alongside her cast. More recently you can see her starring as Wendy in CBC’s Crawford, which won her a Canadian Comedy Award for Best Performance in a TV Series, and as Mary Jane in Decoys, now streaming on CBC Gem.

Ep. 22 - Knox
Wednesday Sep 30, 2020
Wednesday Sep 30, 2020
In today’s episode, Amanda sits down over some straight vodka on ice with actor and filmmaker Knox (Slo Pitch, Barbelle, Letters to Satan Claus) to discuss portraying ex-lovers on scene, growing up Catholic, and the blurred lines between reality and fallacy online. Professionally known as Karen Knox, Knox is an actor and filmmaker based in Toronto. As an actor, she is best known for playing “Veronica” in the critically acclaimed and award-winning series Barbelle (KindaTV), and as “Boris” in the new comedy series Slo Pitch (OUTtvGo). This Christmas you can catch her playing “Holly Frost” in SYFI Network’s anti-Hallmark Christmas Movie Letters to Satan Claus. In January, Knox launched her film Cons and Pros, which she created alongside Gwenlyn Cumyn and J Stevens, on VICE.com. It’s a heist film within a heist, and I definitely recommend checking out both the film and the write up about it on VICE.com. And if you just need more Knox (!), check out her Autofiction blog on her website. I find the aesthetic so whimsically romantic, alluring, provocative, and a great little world of wonder.

Ep. 21 - Jen Pogue
Wednesday Sep 23, 2020
Wednesday Sep 23, 2020
In today’s episode, Amanda sits down over some chilled beer in a fancy wine glass with actor and producer Jen Pogue (Endlings, Time Out, Things I Do For Money) to discuss indecisiveness, how friggin’ hard it is to write anything (!), and her own podcast Women on Screen Out Loud. She is one third of Film Coop, an Associate producer for Women on Screen, and an Industry Series Producer for The Canadian Film Festival. She co-created and co-hosts Women on Screen Out Loud, a podcast showcasing influential women who work in Film & Television through written essays and conversation. During COVID Jen launched My Storytime Project, where she professionally records herself reading aloud whatever children’s storybook she receives as a request, and then posts it online in the hopes that is offer a few moments of relief to parents everywhere. Jen also holds a certificate from the Canadian Institute of Floral Design, and runs a side floral design business Flowers By Jen, creating beautiful, whimsical works of floral art.
