Wednesday Nov 04, 2020
In today’s episode, Amanda sits down over some gin and tonics with Home Décor YouTuber Alexandra Gater to discuss imposter syndrome, starting her own business after being let go from Chatelaine magazine, and how to make your space reflect your personality. While working as the Home Editor for Canada’s iconic women’s lifestyle magazine Chatelaine, Alexandra created the YouTube series The Home Primp which focused on showing viewers how to make small spaces functional and beautiful on a budget. The series was a huge success and since leaving the magazine, Alexandra now runs her own Home Design company, she is the host and producer behind Shopify’s series Make My Space Work, and she continues to create online content on her own Home Décor YouTube Channel where she specializes in helping millennials decorate their rental spaces on a budget. With over 300k subscribes, Alexandra’s Channel is full of accessible, beautiful make overs, DIYs and design how-to’s. She just delivered her first TedTalk on her journey and success this October.

In today’s episode, Amanda sits down over some Budweiser beer with stand up comic, sketch artist, improvisor, and TV writer D.J. Mausner (Baroness Von Sketch, Gary and His Demons, This House Has 22 Minutes) to discuss everything comedy, trying to decorate her apartment to convince people that she’s human, and boycotting Just For Laughs in protest to how the festival handled reported sexual assault and harassment. She is a current member of the Upright Citizen’s Brigade’s Characters Welcome cast, and on screen you can see her in HBO’s Insecure and CBC’s sketch series Tallboyz. In 2019, CBC named DJ one of fifteen Canadian Comedians to Watch, and NOW Magazine has dubbed her one of their Breakthrough Toronto Stage Artists of the Year. Ep. 25 - Tricia Black
Wednesday Oct 21, 2020
Wednesday Oct 21, 2020
In today’s episode, Amanda sits down over some Guinness with actor, writer, and singer-songwriter Tricia Black (Second City Toronto’s Mainstage 83rd/84th Reviews, Kim’s Convenience, The Broken Hearts Gallery) to discuss figuring out your personal brand, our warped expectations of celebrities, and having shows shut down because of COVID. She was a cast member of Second City Toronto’s 83rd and 84th mainstage review, as well as their first-ever, all-female show, the award-winning She The People. She is a two-time Canadian Comedy Award winner, and can be seen on screen in Kim’s Convenience, What We Do In The Shadows, and The Broken Hearts Gallery. She is also the Artistic Producer of a Broadway World award-winning theatre company Tweed & Company where she writes and composes new Canadian musical works. This summer Tricia launched her podcast One More Round with Tricia Black, a weekly comedy podcast where she sits down and has a drink (or two) with people she wants to get to know, people that inspire her, and friends who she adores. I had the pleasure of being a guest on her podcast, so go take a listen!
Tricia would like to highlight Egale. They are Canada’s leading organization for LGBTQI2S people and issues. They improve and save lives through research, education, awareness & legal advocacy. Find out more about Egale at www.egale.ca!

In today’s episode, Amanda sits down over pretty pink wine with writer, director, and comedic actress Trish Rainone (Pink Is In, My Roommate’s an Escort, V-Wars) to discuss filming in Sault Ste. Marie, accidentally taking edibles before performing stand-up, and what the hell ‘adorn’ means. In 2019 Trish started 180 Sisterhood Productions alongside producer Rebeka Herron, and in less than a year they already have a podcast underway and a handful of film credits including Milk, Diary of a Dangerchild, and An Isolation Dogumentary, all of which are currently in the film festival circuit. Their newest projects include a horror feature film and a music video for the upcoming single Honey by recording artist Jesse Merineau, which Trish co-directed and script wrote for. As a performer, Trish won Best Actress for her role in the film One Night Stand at the Crown Wood International Film Festival, and can be seen on Amazon Prime Video playing Top Dog in the award-winning series Pink is In.
