Wednesday Aug 05, 2020
Wednesday Aug 05, 2020
In today’s episode, Amanda sits down over some yummy ruby grapefruit Palm Bays with actor, improvisor, and writer Ann Pornel (This Hour Has 22 Minutes, Baroness Von Sketch Show, The Beaverton) to discuss dating during quarantine, how doubting yourself benefits the patriarchy, and what sacrifices she’s had to make for her career. Ann is a three-time Second City mainstage alumni (Come What Mayhem, Everything is Great Again, Party Today Panic Tomorrow) and is a member of Second City’s first show to feature an all female-identifying cast She The People. You can see her on screen in the newest season of Ghost Bff, created by the incredible Vanessa Matsui, and you can see her improvising every Wednesday night in The Oval airing at 9:30pm EST on Bad Dog TV. She is so freaking fabulous that the designers at Rue 107 named a skirt after her, the Pornel skirt…no big deal.

**Note: While editing this episode I realized that during the conversation I used the phrase “bottom of the totem pole”, and I’d like to acknowledge that in doing so I’m ignorantly appropriating Indigenous culture. Rather than edit it out, I want to take ownership of using the phrase and work to do better.
